Basketball Recap: Bayfield Takes a Loss

Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Alamosa Mean Moose 59-16. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Mean Moose are ranked 72nd).

It was another big night for Aubrey Rothermich, who went 8 of 13 to rack up 16 points in addition to five boards and three blocks for Alamosa. Rothermich continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Ortega, who posted nine points.

Bayfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Alamosa, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bayfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-22 defeat against Centauri on the 8th. As for Alamosa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-25 victory against Montezuma-Cortez on the 8th.
