Soccer Recap: Savio Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 2-2 at halftime, Savio was not quite Central Catholic's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They lost 5-2 to the Central Catholic Buttons. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Buttons are ranked sixth).

Bernardo Castillon and James Webster scored both of Savio's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Savio's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Central Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Savio will square off against St. Michael's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Antonian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Antonian Prep: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Central Catholic has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
