Baseball Recap: Webster County Triumphs

Webster County won the last time they faced Trigg County and things went their way on Monday too. The Trojans walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Sawyer Trader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Jameson Newton was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Webster County's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Warren, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Webster County's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Trigg County, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Webster County will challenge Crittenden County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.88 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Trigg County, they will venture away from home to face off against Murray at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
