Volleyball Recap: Dora Takes a Loss

Dora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Melrose Buffaloes. If the Coyotes were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Buffaloes when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-8.

Leading Melrose to victory were Kailey Jackson and Shylynn Downey. Jackson had ten digs and six aces, while Downey had 28 digs. Jackson is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season. Cassie Hawkins was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Dora's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Melrose, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dora is set to square off against their familiar foe Floyd at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Melrose will challenge rival Gateway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
