Football Recap: Blythewood Takes a Loss

Blythewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumter Gamecocks. If the Bengals were looking for revenge after losing 49-20 to the Gamecocks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Blythewood still got an impressive performance from James Veasey, who threw for 214 yards and five TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 95 yards. Ben Hendrix was in the mix as well, providing the Bengals with two scores.

Blythewood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Sumter, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Coincidentally, Blythewood and Sumter will both be playing Ridge View the next time they take the field. The Gamecocks will host the Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bengals will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
