Basketball Recap: Weldon Valley's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Weldon Valley needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from August Filter. The Weldon Valley Warriors came out on top against the Mile High Academy Mustangs by a score of 43-31 on Thursday thanks in part to Filter, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 26 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Weldon Valley's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Seth O'Patik, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, Mile High Academy still got an impressive performance from Noel Koloay, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Weldon Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-4. As for Mile High Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Weldon Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-36 defeat against North Park on the 10th. As for Mile High Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against St. John Paul the Great at 6:00 p.m.
