Baseball Recap: St. Cloud Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Cloud can now relate to. They fell just short of the Harmony Longhorns by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost three in a row.

St. Cloud got a good showing from Jack Ewalt, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ewalt has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jose Alvarado made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Adrian Carradero, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

St. Cloud's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Harmony, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

St. Cloud does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harmony, they will take on Vero Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
