North Oldham hasn't had much luck against Ballard recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Bruins at 6:00 p.m.
North Oldham is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Great Crossing on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to the Warhawks.
North Oldham saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADDLEY BECKER (2030), who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Ballard was able to grind out a solid win over Henry County on Wednesday, taking the game 9-4. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Shelby James made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Downey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Aubrie Newton was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
North Oldham's loss dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Ballard, their record is now 21-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. North Oldham hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ballard struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
North Oldham might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Ballard when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
