Baseball Game Preview: Moses Brown Quakers vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

Moses Brown is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Mt. Hope Huskies at 4:30 p.m. Moses Brown will be strutting in after a win while Mt. Hope will be coming in after a defeat.

Moses Brown is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Springboro a 10-0 shutout. The Quakers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024.

Will Haggerty and Parker DeWolf made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Haggerty didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, DeWolf pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Haggerty has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Haggerty scored a run while going 2-for-4, while DeWolf scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Moses Brown got a big performance out of Anthony Fede, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kazuya Bojarski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope lost a heartbreaker to Lincoln when they met back in May of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Huskies fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-3. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Mt. Hope saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Abbruzzi, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Trace Dubois, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Moses Brown came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Hope in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 14-13. Do the Quakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
