Softball Recap: Jasper Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Jasper had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Forest Park on Saturday. The Wildcats blew past the Rangers 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Katelyn Young made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Jasper let Ayla Elkins and Brianna Barrix run wild. Elkins went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Barrix went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryn Smith, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Jasper hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Jasper, bringing their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Park, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Jasper will take on Gibson Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Forest Park, they will square off against Heritage Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
