Basketball Recap: Summit Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against IC Imagine last Thursday, Summit Charter came back down to earth. The Summit Charter Bears had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of the Hiwassee Dam Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Eagles are ranked 120th).

Despite the loss, Summit Charter saw an underclassman step up: freshman Olivia Reeves posted 15 points and three steals. The match was Reeves' fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Summit Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Hiwassee Dam, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Summit Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hiwassee Dam, they will face off against Blue Ridge Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hiwassee Dam's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
