Softball Recap: Geneva Vikings vs. Hampshire Whip-Purs

Geneva was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Hampshire Whip-Purs, falling 12-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Whip-Purs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in April.

Clara Lyons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sloane Fisher, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Geneva's defeat dropped their record down to 7-22. As for Hampshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneva will take on St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hampshire, they will head out on the road to take on Palatine at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
