Basketball Recap: Portland Takes a Loss

Portland played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Ellington Knights and fell 71-18. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-10.

Morganne Pineda was Portland's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Gracie DeRing held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Kelsey Desmarais took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Portland's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ellington, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Portland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hale Ray at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellington and East Windsor/Bloomfield will compete for holiday cheer at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
