The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will challenge the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Atlantic Coast has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Atlantic Coast will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Creekside, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Atlantic Coast had just enough and edged Creekside out 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Stingrays have posted since April 18, 2024.
Dalton Tibbetts made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Tibbetts was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Prudencio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Anthony Selejan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Atlantic Coast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creekside only posted a batting average of .207.
Meanwhile, everything went St. Joseph Academy's way against Eagle's View on Tuesday as St. Joseph Academy made off with a 15-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flashes.
Neil Gornto looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). What's more, he also gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Connor Lewis was a standout: he scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Eli Robshaw was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Atlantic Coast's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. Joseph Academy, their record is now 2-0.
Atlantic Coast might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from St. Joseph Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Atlantic Coast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
