Baseball Recap: Holton Gets the Win

Holton's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Hart Pirates. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

Holton let Fisher Mirkle and Lane Frees run wild. Mirkle went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Frees went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Mirkle has become a key player for Holton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7-1 otherwise. Nathan Greene also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Holton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart only posted a batting average of .231.

Holton's win bumped their record up to 6-7-1. As for Hart, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Holton beat the Pirates by a score of 18-6 later that day.
