Baseball Recap: South-Doyle Takes a Loss

South-Doyle lost against Sevier County back in March of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cherokees fell just short of the Smoky Bears by a score of 7-5. The Cherokees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fisher Jacobs and Chase Swaggerty stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jacobs scored two runs and stole two bases, while Swaggerty scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Jacobs has become a key player for South-Doyle: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13-1 otherwise.

South-Doyle's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14-1. As for Sevier County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-13.

Looking ahead, South-Doyle will take on Pigeon Forge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cherokees' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sevier County, they will venture away from home to challenge Dobyns-Bennett at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
