Basketball Recap: Genesee Comes Up Short

Genesee played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 74-25 loss at the hands of the Hamady Hawks. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reginae Randle, who posted two points and nine rebounds. Averie Zinn was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Genesee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 31 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Genesee's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Hamady, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Genesee will square off against Bendle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Bendle: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Genesee has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Hamady has already played their next contest (against Flint Southwestern Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
