Preview: Hamilton Big Blue vs. Lakota East Thunderhawks

The Hamilton Big Blue will head out on the road to square off against the Lakota East Thunderhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamilton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 17-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

While Hamilton couldn't quite beat Harrison on Monday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point loss they were dealt on Wednesday. Hamilton fell just short of Harrison by a score of 53-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hamilton in their matchups with Harrison: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Lakota East unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 45-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winton Woods. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakota East has scored all season.

Lakota East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katlyn Pham, who scored eight points along with three steals, and Celina Blount who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Pham hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games.

Hamilton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Lakota East, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Hamilton was dealt a bruising 63-29 loss at the hands of Lakota East in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lakota East's Emma Fohl, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that Hamilton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
