Volleyball Recap: Vanlue's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Vanlue came into Saturday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets with a sharp 3-0 victory on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Vanlue walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-18.

Leading Vanlue to victory were Kennedy Brooks and Phoenix Heuerman. Brooks had five aces and four digs, while Heuerman had six digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Heuerman a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Vanlue was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cory-Rawson only served six.

Vanlue's record now sits at 3-19. As for Cory-Rawson, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Vanlue will venture away from home to square off against Hardin Northern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will head out to challenge New Knoxville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
