Francisco Galan and Aaron Minor provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Norwalk. The connection went for 76 yards, the longest such play in Suburban this season.
Bellflower moved up to 352 from 402 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Buccaneers climbed the ranks as a result of a 31-7 win over the Buccaneers.
Artesia's dynamic duo of Galan and Cristian Rodriguez proved tough for the Lancers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Galan threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns and Rodriguez had 119 yards receiving. Isaiah Benoit helped Artesia's passing attack out by catching two balls for 49 yards.
ADAM CARRASCO was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 152 yards on 27 carries as La Mirada lost to Norwalk. EJ MEZA also contributed to the rushing game with 50 yards on the ground.
La Mirada's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Matadores feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. GERRY MYRES has thrown for 1033 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while DALLIS SHIPP has 27 catches for 476 yards. CARRASCO leads the league in rushing with 821 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Matadores take on Artesia. La Mirada's offense has scored 212 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Joe Veach's team has allowed only 246 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mayfair takes on Jesse Ceniceros's team. As it stands, the Monsoons are in third, while the Lancers are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Mayfair takes on Norwalk. Mike Fitch's team has allowed 130 points this season, while the Lancers have given up 136.
Norwalk took down the Pioneers 48-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.
