Softball Recap: Hatch Valley Has No Trouble Against Newcomb

Hatch Valley lost to Newcomb back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Bears blew past the Skyhawks 19-2. Considering the Bears have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Maggie Reyes was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances. Rayelle Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Hatch Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Hatch Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Newcomb, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Hatch Valley has already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Capitan on the 5th. As for Newcomb, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-19 defeat against Jal on the 5th.
