Basketball Recap: East Chapel Hill Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when East Chapel Hill took on Chapel Hill on Friday. The East Chapel Hill Wildcats were outmatched by the Chapel Hill Tigers and fell 67-30. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Tigers are ranked 45th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chapel Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dezariyah Clark, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Clark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Ashton Beale was another key player, going 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

East Chapel Hill's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Chapel Hill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

East Chapel Hill has already played their next matchup (against Northern Durham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Chapel Hill and Hillside will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Hillside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight losses, while Chapel Hill will come in with five straight wins.
