Basketball Recap: Parkland Mustangs vs. Atkins Camels
Parkland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Atkins Camels 64-34. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Parkland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janel Carter led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine steals. Carter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Azari Wilkins was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Parkland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Atkins' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
Parkland has already played their next contest, a 42-37 victory against Glenn on the 22nd. As for Atkins, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-25 defeat against South Stokes on the 22nd.
