Football Recap: Stringer's Punishing Run Game Keeps Rolling

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stringer walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Mount Olive Pirates on Friday as they made off with a 36-12 victory. Considering the Red Devils have won five contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Jaheim Campbell, who rushed for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Stringer's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Kyler Gavin helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stringer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 355 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Stringer's defense stepped up as well, laying out Tub Keller four times. Leading the way was Jameik Johnson with two sacks.

Stringer's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.4 points over those games. As for Mount Olive, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Stringer will head out on the road to face off against Simmons on Friday. The Blue Devils' defense has only allowed 6.4 points per game this season, so the Red Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them. Mount Olive does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
