Baseball Game Preview: Van Horn Falcons vs. Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers

The Van Horn Falcons will head out to challenge the Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Van Horn took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Barstow. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Lincoln College Prep made easy work of Southeast on Thursday and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Tigers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.

Lincoln College Prep got a great performance from Henry Galus as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave Galus a new career-high.

At the plate, Luke Guzman was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Dobson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Lincoln College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Van Horn's record is now 10-11. As for Lincoln College Prep, their record now sits at 13-7.

Van Horn couldn't quite finish off Lincoln College Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
