Preview: Raymond Central Mustangs vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers
Raymond Central is 1-9 against Fort Calhoun since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Raymond Central Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. Raymond Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Raymond Central had to settle for a 48-45 loss against Louisville. Raymond Central has struggled against Louisville recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Fort Calhoun waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They really took it to Tekamah-Herman for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-29 win on the road. With Fort Calhoun ahead 46-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Raymond Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Fort Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Raymond Central ended up a good deal behind Fort Calhoun in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 66-51. Can Raymond Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
