Softball Recap: Ridgeview Comes Up Short

Ridgeview lost to Keystone Heights back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Indians by a score of 5-3.

Saige Bialek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hannah Smith made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nichole Deschamps, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Ridgeview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Keystone Heights, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11.

Coming up, Ridgeview will be playing in front of their home fans against Yulee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Keystone Heights, they will head out to challenge Fort White at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
