Basketball Recap: McAuley Catholic Warriors vs. New Heights Christian Academy Cougars

McAuley Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-44 to the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-47 last Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Heights Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adam Stanton, who posted 12 points and six boards. Stanton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Jadon Smith was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

McAuley Catholic's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-6. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Coming up, McAuley Catholic will square off against Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Golden City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Golden City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully New Heights Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
