Basketball Recap: Gerstell Academy vs. Maryvale Prep
Gerstell Academy can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 44-18 margin over Maryvale Prep. Given Gerstell Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the are ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gerstell Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Miley Alguire out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alguire has scored all season. Eniyah Stinnette was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Gerstell Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Maryvale Prep, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Gerstell Academy will take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maryvale Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia Prep is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
