Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Laguna Hills Hawks

The Westminster Lions will take on the Laguna Hills Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westminster is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Westminster saw some tournament action last Saturday. They were beaten by Rancho Alamitos 65-20. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laguna Hills). They breezed by Buena Park to the tune of 87-43 on Friday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Coyotes are ranked 1155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Laguna Hills' win came from a few key players Westminster will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Myles Mittelsteadt, who posted 28 points. Those 28 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Burnham, who put up 22 points.

The win got Laguna Hills back to even at 10-10. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
