Baseball Game Preview: Lake Forest Spartans vs. Indian River Indians

The Lake Forest Spartans will challenge the Indian River Indians on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lake Forest comes in on four and Indian River on five.

Lake Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Dover, who was ranked eighth at the time (Lake Forest was ranked 19th). The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Senators 3-2 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Indian River won against Archmere Academy on Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Indians didn't even let the Auks on the board, marking the Indians' second-straight 6-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Indian River pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Lake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Lake Forest couldn't quite finish off Indian River in their previous matchup back in April and fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
