Softball Game Preview: Pueblo Warriors vs. Flowing Wells Caballeros

For the second straight game, Pueblo will face off against Flowing Wells. The Warriors will host the Caballeros at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Pueblo turned things around against Flowing Wells on Tuesday. They blew past the Caballeros 18-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the game before.

Sofia Larribas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Makayla Castanon was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Renata Nu?ez, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Pueblo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flowing Wells only posted a batting average of .241.

Flowing Wells has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Pueblo, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-15.
