Basketball Recap: Kahuku Wins High-Profile Match Against Castle

On Tuesday, Kahuku faced Castle in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Kahuku Red Raiders put the hurt on the Castle Knights with a sharp 67-46 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Raiders who have now won five matches in a row.

Kahuku got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ronin Naihe out in front who went 12 for 21 on his way to 28 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Naihe's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mystique Akina-Watson, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Kahuku's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Castle, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Kahuku has already played their next game, a 76-43 win against Farrington on the 16th. Castle has also already played their next contest (against Kaimuki), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
