Baseball Recap: Spanaway Lake Comes Up Short

Spanaway Lake extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-16 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Bethel Bison. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Tuesday.

As for Bethel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Bethel's part, Jacob Vance made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Vance a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Peck, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Millspaugh, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spanaway Lake will welcome Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bethel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sumner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
