Basketball Recap: Brennan Lohr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Conemaugh Township over Cambria Heights

After flying high against Penns Manor last Tuesday, Conemaugh Township came back down to earth. The Conemaugh Township Indians fell 49-42 to the Cambria Heights Highlanders on Thursday. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Conemaugh Township's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Lohr, who posted 12 points. Stephen Stango was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Conemaugh Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cambria Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Abrams, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Abrams has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Stephen Nelen, who had ten points.

The loss snapped Conemaugh Township's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-4 record. As for Cambria Heights, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-10.

Conemaugh Township wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-39 victory against United on the 20th. Cambria Heights has also already played their next game, a 60-37 defeat against Portage on the 17th.
