Hilton Head Christian Academy was led to victory by Tamya Hutchinson and Devon Yarde. Hutchinson almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds, while Yarde scored 30 points along with seven assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yarde has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Langhals, who scored seven points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why John Paul II lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brady Mahoney. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Mahoney hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Savannah Trott, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Hilton Head Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for John Paul II, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Hilton Head Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Brunswick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Thursday. As for John Paul II, they will head out on the road to square off against the Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
