Softball Game Preview: Ramona Bulldogs vs. Canyon Crest Academy Ravens

Ramona has gone a perfect 3-0 against Canyon Crest Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Ramona Bulldogs will square off against the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Ramona is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Ramona managed to slip by El Camino the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Ramona lost 19-9 to El Camino on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Evie Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Avery Clowers also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Ramona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Canyon Crest Academy not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 29, 2024. They blew past Escondido 8-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ravens.

Carrie Krummen looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis McNamee, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Melony Garcia was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

The victory got Canyon Crest Academy back to even at 5-5-1. As for Ramona, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

Everything went Ramona's way against Canyon Crest Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Ramona made off with a 13-7 win. Does Ramona have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canyon Crest Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
