Softball Recap: Bloomfield's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Bloomfield's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Shiprock Chieftains get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bobcats yet this season.

The result came thanks to Meyah Valenica's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mariah Ramero, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tatum Lantana, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bloomfield's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Shiprock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will challenge Miyamura at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shiprock, they will take on Gallup at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bengals will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight.
