Baseball Game Preview: Ridgewood Generals vs. Martins Ferry Purple Riders

The Ridgewood Generals will take on the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ridgewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Conotton Valley on Saturday. The Generals have beaten the Rockets the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rockets has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Martins Ferry waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Falcons.

Martins Ferry's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgewood, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Ridgewood beat Martins Ferry 3-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Purple Riders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
