Basketball Game Preview: Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs vs. Emmanuel Christian Academy

The Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against Emmanuel Christian Academy at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Morgantown Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Monday, Morgantown Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Calvary Christian Academy as they won 53-34. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in West Virginia, while Calvary Christian Academy are ranked 205th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Morgantown Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cade Spicer, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and four steals, and Cole Mathess, who posted 13 points and seven steals. Mathess has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times he's played. Andy Rodriguez was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points.

Morgantown Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener back in December of 2024. They managed a 44-40 win over Capital Prep Harbor. Emmanuel Christian Academy's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Morgantown Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
