Volleyball Recap: Maumee Beats Napoleon for Their Fifth Straight Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Maumee challenged Napoleon on Monday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won five matches in a row.

Maumee walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-10, 25-19, 25-20.

Maumee was led to victory by Julia Coutcher and Taryn Pyle. Coutcher had 20 digs and five assists, while Pyle had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Pyle has posted since back in August. Abby Howe also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Maumee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.

Maumee's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Napoleon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Maumee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Lake on the 30th. As for Napoleon, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Bowling Green on the 30th.
