Baseball Recap: Wakefield Starts Season with Win on the Road

Wakefield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Broughton Capitals 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since April 16, 2024.

Tyler Rotellini looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Wakefield's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Piscorik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Wakefield has already played their next match, a 10-1 loss against Leesville Road on the 26th. As for Broughton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-4 win against Green Level on the 26th.
