Baseball Recap: Des Moines East Takes a Loss

If Des Moines East was feeling good fresh off their 15-1 takedown of Marshalltown on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Scarlets came up short against the Fort Dodge Dodgers on Friday, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dodgers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 on Monday.

Des Moines East's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Fort Dodge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Des Moines East will square off against Des Moines North at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Scarlets are facing the Polar Bears at the right time seeing as the Polar Bears are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Fort Dodge, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mason City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
