Basketball Game Preview: Mira Costa Mustangs vs. Torrey Pines Falcons

The Mira Costa Mustangs will take on the Torrey Pines Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mira Costa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.

Mira Costa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over Crean Lutheran. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Saints are ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Torrey Pines duked it out with Santa Margarita on Tuesday. Torrey Pines came out on top against Santa Margarita by a score of 66-59.

Mira Costa better focus on containing Cody Shen and Tevaris Green as the pair were huge in Torrey Pines' win. Shen shot 71% from the field en route to 26 points and five rebounds, while Green went 5-for-10 on his way to 20 points along with five assists and five boards. That's the most points Green has posted since back in December of 2024. Zain Mehio was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mira Costa's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-4. As for Torrey Pines, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.
