Softball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. El Cerrito Gauchos

The Berean Christian Eagles will take on the El Cerrito Gauchos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Berean Christian's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last ten matches.

Last Thursday, Berean Christian made easy work of Campolindo and carried off a 16-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Emma De Carlo was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Kundysek, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Berean Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campolindo struck out six times.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, El Cerrito rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 11-10. 11 seems to be a good number for the Gauchos as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Madelyn Harrison, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Vanhook, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Berean Christian pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for El Cerrito, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3.
