After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Randleman, Providence Grove was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eastern Randolph Wildcats. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Providence Grove who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-11.
Providence Grove was led to victory by Callie Hodges and Taryn Waugh. Hodges had eight digs and three aces, while Waugh had seven digs. That's the most aces Hodges has posted since back in August.
Providence Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Randolph only served six.
