Basketball Game Preview: Fountain Hills Falcons vs. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans

The Fountain Hills Falcons will square off against the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will be up against a hot Fountain Hills squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Fountain Hills blew past Madison Highland Prep, posting a 62-7 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Heat are ranked 304th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy really took it to Scottsdale Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-17 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-5.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's win came from a few key players Fountain Hills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maeve Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 steals. Those 18 points gave her a new career-high. Ashtyn Wolf was another key player, going 8 for 17 on her way to 24 points along with six steals and five assists.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Fountain Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.3 points per game. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Everything went Fountain Hills' way against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Fountain Hills made off with a 41-17 victory.
