Baseball Preview: Homer Trojans vs. Westhill Warriors
The Homer Trojans will face off against the Westhill Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Homer's victory against Chittenango wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Bears on Thursday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, while Westhill put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for South Jefferson. The Warriors blew past the Spartans 9-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Anthony Sampo made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Sampo was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
