Arvada West faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Arvada West walked away with a 4-1 victory over Mountain Vista. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Brayden Reiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Luke Alonso was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Keegan Millikan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Arvada West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Arvada West's record now sits at 6-1-1. As for Mountain Vista, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Arvada West Wildcats challenge Cherokee Trail Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arvada West's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cherokee Trail has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Mountain Vista, they will face off against Arapahoe at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Arapahoe has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
