Baseball Recap: Valley Head Triumphs

Valley Head's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Skyline Vikings by a score of 7-2. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Vikings last Tuesday, they had to take a 11-4 defeat.

Andy Cano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Valley Head is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cayden Collins, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Valley Head's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tytan Blevins, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Valley Head's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Skyline, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Valley Head will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ider at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to face off against Brindlee Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
